Protechmasta Far Infrared SilverAid Leg Wraps combine two technologies to benefit your horse: Protechmasta FIR (Far Infrared) rays to assist circulation, and SilverAid technology which uses silver ions to support the horse's body and reduces the risk of invasion from bacteria. This intelligent fabric releases silver ions whenever bacterial activity is present. Reducing the risk of invasion from bacteria and fungus brought about from muddy conditions. The innovative SilverAid leg wraps are designed to aid recovery to the horse's lower limbs as well as for general maintenance, can be used before and after exercise. Ergonomically shaped and featuring a generously sized padded liner to help provide the ultimate protection and support to your horse's lower limbs whilst in the stable. Adjustable hook and loop strap fastenings for a secure fit. Quick and easy to use and ergonomically shaped to fit both the front and back legs with supportive pastern wrap design, these stable wraps are a great alternative to bandaging. The padded lining can be removed to make washing easier.
*A black body is an object or organism (in this case the horse) that absorbs all FIR radiation that is placed upon it, (in this case the Far Infrared Radiating ceramics infused into the lining of the Protechmasta stable wraps.) It then reflects this radiation back at the same frequency that has been generated by the initiating blackbody, the horse *
Frequently Asked Questions
Question: What is the Protechmasta range?
Answer: Far Infrared Technology - A naturalistic ceramic infused lining that emits a safe form of Far Infrared radiation, also known as Biogenetic Radiation, to the body, this is then reflected from the body creating a natural black body effect. Far infrared radiation is a natural process and is scientifically proven to assist blood circulation gently and safely, therefore, helping to reduce any swelling, ease muscle tension and support recovery and help in the prevention of injury.
Question: How long is it recommended to leave Protechmasta Leg Wraps on for?
Answer: If your horse is new to Protechmasta start with leaving the boots on for an hour and increase each day. Leaving on overnight for a horse that is stabled is ideal, alternatively use before and after exercise. We do not recommend using for exercise or turnout.
Question: Will the Protechmasta leg wraps help with swollen or filled legs?
Answer: We have had many reviews from our customers who have said the Protechmasta stable wraps have helped their horse.
Question: Does the Protechmasta material have to be in direct contact with the body?
Answer: Better results can be achieved when Protechmasta is in direct contact with the skin.
Question: Are the products machine washable?
Answer: Yes, Protechmasta products are machine washable. We recommend washing at 30 degrees on a gentle cycle and in a rug wash bag. Close all fastenings before washing. Please line dry naturally, do not tumble dry or iron.
Question: Do I need to introduce the products slowly?
Answer: We recommend that the Protechmasta products are introduced gradually to allow the body to adjust. For the first week use only for a maximum of four hours at a time, then introducing it for longer periods after a couple of weeks. For maximum results use as often as possible.
Question: Will Protechmasta overheat my horse?
Answer: The Protechmasta rug unlike a thermal rug or everyday horse rug, is impregnated with a Bio-ceramic material. This Bio-ceramic material is a combination of varied ceramics and mineral oxides which are bound together and heated to 3000 degrees. Once the material is cooled it becomes Bio-ceramic, and emits Far Infrared Energy (FIR).
When Bio-ceramic material is impregnated into the fibres of the rug and placed next to the skin of the equine Far Infrared radiation is produced. The primary source of energy required to stimulate FIR emissions comes from the equine's body. The ceramic nanoparticles in the rug become ‘perfect absorbers’ maintaining their temperature at adequate levels then offering FIR back to the equine's body. This ensures there is a constant emission and absorption of FIR to the equines skin, regulating temperature and preventing the opportunity of overheating when applied in ambient temperatures up to 25 degrees.

Protechmasta Silveraid Leg Wrap FAQs
Q: What can these leg wraps be used for?
A: The Protechmasta SilverAid leg wraps use two therapeutic properties to benefit your horse: Protechmasta FIR (Far Infrared) rays, and SilverAid technology – an antimicrobial treatment which uses silver ions to kill bacteria.
The combination of FIR therapy and an intelligent antimicrobial treatment means the SilverAid leg wraps are useful for aiding the healing of a wide range of issues, such as pastern dermatitis (mud fever), cracked heels, both new cuts or scratches and infected cuts or scratches, scabbed legs, filled legs, windgalls, tendon, ligament or muscle sprains and strains, lameness, recovery from exercise, and much more.
Q: Are the leg wraps a suitable subtitute for medical attention?
A: No. These wraps are intended to supplement and aid established medical treatments, and to heal lower-severity cases. They are not a replacement or substitute for medical advice. Consult your vet if you are unsure.
Q: Where can these leg wraps be worn?
A: These leg wraps are intended for stable use only.
When can these leg wraps be worn? |
|
Stable | Yes - the best place to wear them |
Turnout | No |
Travelling | No - they do not offer sufficient protection for travelling |
Exercise | No |
Q: Should I clip my horse's legs before using the leg wrap?
A: For the SilverAid technology to be fully effective, the intelligent lining must be as close as possible to (ideally in contact with) the affected area of the skin, so feathers should be clipped.
Q: Can I use the leg wraps while using other treatment methods?
A: The SilverAid leg wraps are ideal for supplementing other treatment methods, for example for your horse to wear in the stable overnight while other treatments are used through the day. However, because the SilverAid technology ideally requires being as close as possible to the skin to work, they will not be effective if use at the same time as creams or bandages.
Q: How long does the Protechmasta Infrared technology last for?
A: The Protechmasta Infrared technology comes from tiny ceramic particles which fused to the fabric’s yarn during the manufacturing process. This means the technology will not wash out, and will last the lifetime of the product. The Protechmasta Silveraid leg wraps feature BOTH Infrared technology and SilverAid technology.
Q: How long does SilverAid technology last for?
A: Like all technical treatments, the SilverAid technology has a finite lifetime. We estimate that the effectiveness of the treatment will start to decrease after 25 washes, but this will vary depending on many factors, such as what the condition it is being used to treat and how severe it is, how dirty they get and how often the wraps are washed, the environmental conditions the wraps are used in, and so on. The Protechmasta Silveraid leg wraps feature BOTH Infrared technology and SilverAid technology.
Q: How often should I wash the leg wraps?
A: We recommend that washing is kept to a minimum, to preserve the lifespan of the SilverAid technology. We recommend that the wraps are only used when the legs are dry and clean, so they should not get too dirty in normal use. If your horse’s leg is more severe and is exuding (e.g. pus), then they will need to be washed more frequently.
Q: How should I wash the leg wraps?
A: Before washing the leg wraps, attach the supplied hook-and-loop covers onto the hook-and-loop strips on the removable liners, to protect them.
After washing, remove the covers from the hook-and-loop strips to reattach the removable liners to the outer piece.
The wash/care instructions for these leg wraps are:
- Wash at 30°C using non-biological detergent;
- Machine washable;
- Do not bleach;
- Do not dry clean;
- Dry on a washing line.
Q: Will these leg wraps prevent mud fever?
A: These leg wraps are not designed to be worn in the mud as a prevention of mud fever. Furthermore, the SilverAid technology requires clean, dry legs with no obstructions between the liner and skin to work, and mud will cause such an obstruction.
Q: How are the Protechmasta SilverAid leg wraps different from other leg wraps on the market?
A: The Protechmasta SilverAid leg wraps are unique in the sense that they are the only leg wrap product on the market which utilises both the tried-and-tested Protechmasta FIR (Far Infrared) therapy method and the SilverAid technology – an effective and intelligent antimicrobial treatment which uses silver ions to kill bacteria.
Q: How long is it recommended to leave SilverAid leg wraps on for?
A: If your horse is new to Protechmasta start with leaving the boots on for an hour and increase each day. Leaving on overnight for a horse that is stabled is ideal. Use the boots primarily until the infection has healed, being sure to take the pads off and wash them regularly. However you may want to continue use as a preventative to help prevent fungal infections such as Mud Fever returning.
Q: Can I use the leg wrap outers without the lining, or the liners without the outer?
A: Both the removable liners and outer pieces of the leg wraps have been designed to be used together, and for maximum effectiveness that is what we recommend.
